SCA status: Exempt<br><strong>Period of performance:<\/strong> Base year 1 April 2027 \u2013 29 February 2028, plus four option years through 29 February 2032 <br><strong>Required start date:<\/strong> No less than 60 calendar days after the CLIN start date. The Government has confirmed there is no flexibility on start dates<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job Details<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Flight Surgeon provides care to beneficiaries assigned to the Flight Medicine Clinic, the Occupational Health Clinic, or other civilian Flight Medicine physician positions defined by the MTF. Core duties include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Perform a full range of physician services within the privileges granted by the MTF, including examining, diagnosing, treating, and prescribing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, education, and counseling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct Physical Health Assessments and Mental Health Assessments for flyers and special duty personnel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform initial certification exams for flying and special duty applicants, plus waivers and profiles, including foreign military personnel attending U.S. military training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct adaptability rating assessments for military special duty applicants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make Personal Reliability Program (PRP) and Presidential Support Program (PSP) determinations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply medical, fitness, and profiling standards per AFI 48-123, AFI 36-2905, and AFI 10-203, including duty as Profile Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete deployment health assessments per DHA policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and act on medical surveillance data for the Occupational Health program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as primary care manager for a panel of active-duty members and family members, with referral approval and case management responsibilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admit inpatients per local MTF instructions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teach and provide in-service training to clinic staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aeromedical dispositions are permitted only when the physician meets AFI 48-123 Chapter 1 qualifications and the dispositions are listed on the credentials and privileges list, with approval from the MTF Chief of Aerospace Medicine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Flight Surgeon does not fly as part of duties and is not utilized as a Squadron Medical Element physician<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work Hours And Schedule<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standard schedule: Monday through Friday, 0730\u20131630, with a one-hour unpaid lunch, not to exceed 40 hours per week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flex shifts of 8, 9, or 10 hours are allowed by mutual agreement, with advance approval from the clinic and COR, and may not exceed 80 hours per two-week period<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Government publishes schedules for each two-week period one month in advance. Urgent changes carry 72 hours&#8217; notice. Routine changes are published two weeks ahead<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overage hours are not authorized<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federally recognized holidays are non-working days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Position is designated emergency\/mission-essential and requires reporting during base closures, severe weather, or military emergencies at the direction of the Base or MTF Commander<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e698b573e63c466b1f6d4542c05d476b\"><strong>On-site only. Telework is not available<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planned absences require 14 days&#8217; notice to the clinic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time is recorded in DMHRSi and any locally established clinic duty tracking system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orientation and mandatory MTF training hours are billable at the standard rate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Candidate Requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>U.S. citizen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M.D. or D.O. from an LCME-, AOA-, or ECFMG-recognized program, with an ACGME-accredited residency completed. No equivalency determinations are accepted for education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current board certification in Aerospace Medicine from an ABMS or AOA BOS member board.
